Collect machine data - without automation knowledge
Machine Data Acquisition with OPC UA
Find your machine. Not its IP address.
You know which machine you want to analyze – but you’re not sure how to access its data? ViewSystems Machine Designer searches for accessible machines in your production network and assists you in establishing a connection. You can then collect the available machine data via OPC UA and utilize it for further tasks – without needing to be an automation expert yourself.
1. Search Network
Machine Designer scans the desired network area for machines that provide their data via OPC UA.
2. Select Machine
Found machines are displayed clearly. Select the machine whose production data you would like to use.
3. Establish Connection
Machine Designer establishes the connection. You can then get to know and utilize the available data of your machine.
Machine Data Acquisition: What does my machine need for this?
Machine Designer utilizes OPC UA, a manufacturer-independent industrial standard for the exchange of machine data. Many modern machines and controls already provide their data via OPC UA. If your machine provides data through OPC UA and is accessible via the production network, Machine Designer can search for the system and establish a connection.
My machine is not found – what now?
Not every machine automatically makes its data available on the network. For older systems or limited production networks, one-time support from IT or automation technology may be necessary – for example, to activate OPC UA or to enable network access.
Capture machine data – and then record it.
Once the connection to the machine is established, Machine Designer can capture the available machine data. If machine values need to be analyzed over extended periods, relevant production data can be continuously recorded and stored historically.
