The digital forming tool as an idea and a new business model

The intelligent tool is a value creation participant in the processes of the Smart Factory.

The tool produces the product and is therefore arguably the most important component in the value chain of a stamping or forming process. All parameters must be optimally aligned to ensure the product precisely meets the requirements. Errors have disastrous consequences, leading to scrap, defects, and productivity losses, which in turn would result in increased CO2 emissions.

In a collaborative project with Schwarz Toolmaking, we realized the vision of an intelligent tool that integrates seamlessly into the smart factory. Schwarz developed the sensor and control technology for the tool, while ViewSystems handled the evaluation and visualization of the sensor data and the algorithms for planning and predictive maintenance. The goal: maximum productivity and minimal CO2 emissions.
