The digital forming tool in the smart factory
"To digitize our tools, we worked with Bernhard Rohe from ViewSystems to bring the digital twin of our tools to life. The standardized control system from Schwarz and the visualization from ViewSystems offer intelligence for retrofitting," explains Diedrich Diedrichsen, Managing Director at Heinz Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG.

Launch of the intelligent forming tool as an enabler of the Smart Factory.
It has now been field-tested and is available as a retrofit package for stamping and forming tools. This intelligent forming tool is a collaborative project between Schwarz-Werkzeugbau and ViewSystems. Schwarz developed and implemented the tool's integrated control technology and sensors. Based on ViewSystems' "IndustryView SF" factory operating system, real-time visualization of the relevant process parameters for each individual stroke was achieved.
But that's not all. Within the operating system environment for the factory, the digital tool twin becomes so intelligent that it determines its own efficiency, independently plans maintenance, and automatically manages its spare parts.
All process information from the entire manufacturing system is available to him. The tool and its components are essential value-added participants. The press and the product are additional components. If the press's machine control is networked with the smart factory, it automatically delivers all machine data to the tool as well. Through the linking of the CAQ (Computer-Aided Quality) system with all measurement data, the product is represented network-wide in the smart factory. AI processes, integrated into the tool, automatically detect every critical condition and communicate it to the production team.
All process information combined provides an accurate picture of parts production.
At this point, I would like to sincerely thank Diedrich Diedrichsen, Pascal Schürmann, and the entire Schwarz Toolmaking team for the exciting collaboration, the stimulating exchange of ideas, and the many discussions about the possibilities of tool digitization in the intelligent production of today and the future, which has just begun for us. I am very much looking forward to our continued collaboration!
